ArcaniA: Fall of Setarrif

“ArcaniA: Fall of Setarrif offers fun, familiar combat but suffers from a short runtime, lack of polish, and a disappointing, repetitive final boss encounter.”

ArcaniA: Fall Of Setarrif is mostly fun and keeps the solid combat and flexible playstyle from the main game, which is great. You can still pull off those satisfying 12-15 hit combos and switch between magic, melee, and ranged combat whenever you want. Plus, you can bring your character from the base game, which is a nice touch for continuity, though it can make things a bit too easy if your character is already strong.

That said, the final boss is a real letdown. It’s basically just a copy of the base game’s final boss with no new moves or challenge, which feels lazy and disappointing. The whole expansion is pretty short too. Although it’s advertised as lasting 4-8 hours, you can breeze through it in about 3 hours if you’re not rushing. Moving around still feels slow without runes, and there is no sprint button, which makes exploring a bit tedious. The skill tree and spell options remain pretty basic, and the writing can be stiff and awkward at times, which takes away from the story a little.

Overall, if you’re a fan of the main game and want a quick return to the world, this expansion is okay. Just don’t expect too much and definitely wait for a good discount before picking it up.
