Dead Island

“Dead Island delivers hilarious ragdoll physics, rewarding exploration, and atmospheric zombie survival, though weak gunplay, clunky sprinting, and frustrating enemy swarms in Moresby hinder enjoyment.”

Dead Island is all about crazy, mindless fun where you get to mess around with zombies in all sorts of wild ways. The ragdoll physics are hilarious, and watching zombies flop and tumble never gets old. The game takes place in big open areas that are great for exploring, with plenty of side quests that actually reward you with cool weapons and mods to keep things interesting.

Sometimes the game gets a bit spooky, which is a nice change of pace from all the action. A handy tip is that if you break or cut off a zombie’s legs, they’re done for right away, which totally changes how you approach tougher enemies. The little bits of lore you find, like the Banoi Herald, add some cool background to the story. Plus, the mix of a beautiful resort setting with a zombie apocalypse creates a pretty unique vibe.

On the downside, guns aren’t very useful except when fighting other humans, which can feel a bit limiting. Sprinting feels strange too because your character gets out of breath after just a few steps, though you tend to ignore it after a while. The quarantine zone in Moresby is the worst part, with endless zombie swarms that get really frustrating, but luckily it’s only part of a side quest.

Overall, Dead Island is a fun zombie game with lots to explore and a good balance of action and scares. It has some quirks and a tough spot here and there, but if you like open-world zombie survival, it’s definitely worth trying out.
